Devotional: Communication of Grace

Communication of Grace

Scripture:
"A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger." – Proverbs 15:1

Reflection on Scripture:
Have you ever noticed how much tone can change the direction of a conversation? A gentle word can bring calm, while a sharp one can ignite a fire. Marriage is full of opportunities to practice this. It’s not always easy, especially when you’re tired or frustrated, but taking a moment to choose grace in your words can make a world of difference. A soft answer doesn’t mean avoiding hard conversations—it means approaching them with kindness and a willingness to listen.

Gospel Insight:
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He spoke with grace and truth, even when facing those who opposed Him. That same spirit is available to guide your words in marriage, helping you communicate in ways that heal rather than harm.

Encouragement for Daily Life:
The next time you’re in a disagreement, try pausing for just a few seconds before responding. That little moment can help you find the words that bring peace rather than adding tension. Over time, these small choices create an atmosphere of trust and safety in your marriage.

Application (Call to Action):
Think of one way you can make your words more encouraging today. Maybe it’s thanking your spouse for something they often do without recognition, or simply affirming them with “I love you” out of the blue.

Prayer:
Father, help us to speak with kindness and grace, even when we’re frustrated. Teach us to listen well and respond with love. Let our communication draw us closer together and honor You. Amen.

Until next time!
